About UsThe ULI South Carolina District Council was formed in 2005 to encourage dialogue on land use and planning throughout this state and within each of the three main regions (Upstate, Midlands, Coastal), and to provide tools and resources, leadership development, and a forum through which the state can become better connected. The District Council is led by an Executive Committee with statewide and regional representation, as well as steering committees within each region that focus on the development of membership, sponsorship, programs and Young Leaders activities. With over 600 members, ULI South Carolina is committed to bringing together leaders from across the fields of real estate and land use policy to exchange best practices and serve community needs.
Growing By Choice
In local communities, ULI District Councils bring together a variety of stakeholders to find solutions and build consensus around land use and development challenges. For those topics that are relevant to all involved in the future of our state’s communities, ULI South Carolina will use available resources to strengthen decision making and idea generation at a statewide level. ULI South Carolina will focus on:
- Leadership development
- Weaving together a statewide vision and capacity for responsible land use that recognizes the uniqueness of each region
- the South Carolina Quality Growth Initiative
- the benefit and role of the ULI Senior Fellows
Because of the distinctive character of the communities within each of South Carolina’s three geographical regions, the District Council will also work to share knowledge at the local and regional level in order to form solid partnerships and examine close-to-home issues. In each region- the Upstate, Midlands and Coastal- ULI South Carolina will:
- showcase “best practices” as a means of learning and building capacity
- provide a safe environment for dialogue among all areas of the public, private and nongovernmental sectors
- share information at the local level through valuable educational programs and topic-specific task forces .
