ULI SC Young Leaders Group – Cigar Factory Tour
Please join ULI South Carolina’s Young Leaders Group (YLG) for an inside look at the historic and recently renovated Cigar Factory. We will tour the PURE Insurance office space—home to approximately 60 employees. After the tour, we will adjourn to Mercantile & Mash for happy hour where we will be joined by William Cogswell, President of WECCO, and Richard Morse of Palmetto Commercial Properties. William and Richard will discuss the Cigar Factory and what went into the development, struggles, successes, lessons learned, etc.
William Cogswell, Jr., founder and president of WECCO Development, has played a pivotal role in turning the Cigar Factory from a vacant building into a first-class, mixed-use development. WECCO Development has also completed projects in Charleston such as One Cool Blow, 192 Easy Bay Street and East Bay & Chapel and is currently working on mixed-use projects in North Charleston. Heavily involved in the Charleston community, Cogswell is passionate about seeing the city flourish. He has held positions at the Historic Charleston Foundation, Coastal Conservation League Board, US Green Building and the Peninsula Advisory Commission, as well as being a member of Urban Land Institute and South Carolina Board of Realtors. Cogswell currently represents the District 110 in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
Richard B. Morse, CCIM joined Palmetto Commercial Properties in 2004 and is continuing his family’s legacy of successful real estate brokerage, development, and investment. He focuses on office and retail leasing, most notably representing the ownership of the Cigar Factory, Faber Plaza and GARCo Mill, but has experience in almost every facet of commercial real estate in the Lowcountry.
