Growth management debate heats up again in Mount Pleasant

Five months ago, Mayor Linda Page and all eight Town Council members stood side by side and said they had heard residents’ concerns over the town’s rapid growth and had a plan to slow it down.
This week, residents will see if — and how — they follow through.
Several key meetings are set between 5 p.m. Thursday and Tuesday night that will determine the town’s future zoning and other development rules. The first takes place Thursday night, as the Urban Land Institute unveils its recommendations for how the town should manage growth.
Several development and other experts from across the Carolinas arrived here Wednesday to tour Coleman Boulevard — the flash point for much of the town’s growth angst — and to begin interviewing more than 40 town officials and residents. Read More
