Midlands Reality Check
The Midlands Reality Check was attended by more than 350 community leaders from the City of Columbia as well as 8 surrounding counties. ULI South Carolina is the first ULI District Council to conduct 3 Reality Checks: one in every major metropolitan area – Charleston (the Low Country Reality Check), Greenville-Spartanburg ( the Upstate Reality Check) and now Columbia (the Midlands Reality Check).
Game Day Presentation
What is Reality Check?
Unprecedented for the Midlands, a one-day, hands-on, map-data driven, visioning exercise amongst regional leaders and citizens to build awareness and consensus on where projected growth in the Midlands should happen.
Why Reality Check?
Create a catalyst that will launch a transformational dialogue leading to future action and adoption of best practices on how to accommodate growth, attract and retain skilled people, insure sustainable value while improving the quality of life over the next 30 years.
How does Reality Check work?
This third such event in SC will involve about 300 participants assembled to learn and share ideas in a structured process to rethink how growth implications and options will effect where we will live, work, move, and play here.
Midlands organizations large and small, banding together with ULI to fund Reality Check and become recognized as thoughtful leaders in your community.
