ULI will welcome Greenville’s new economic development director, Merle Johnson, with a Virtual Meet & Greet on September 17, 2020, 10am – 11am. Merle joined the city of Greenville in early July, following Nancy Whitworth, who retired in January after a 40-year tenure.

Johnson, 46, previously worked for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and Charleston County Economic Development, where he served as the deputy director. Prior to that, Johnson had a manufacturing background, working as a production supervisor at a glass manufacturing plant in Richburg, South Carolina, before moving to Charleston for a job at Unitech, a defense contractor that provided maritime security training at major ports around the country.

Join ULI Upstate members and friends for a “Virtual Meet & Greet” with Merle on Thursday, September 17 at 10am.  ULI Upstate Chair, Alex Powell, Johnson Development Associates, will kick us off with a brief interview followed by Q&A with our attendees.

To learn more about Merle in advance of our conversation, see this recent profile in the Upstate Business Journal.
