Williams recognized for distinguish service and re-elected to a Board position

Melvin C. Williams, F.SAME, FACEC, Vice President and Senior Business Developer with S&ME, Inc. was recently recognized for Distinguished Service to the Charleston Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). Williams has been involved in the leadership of this group since 2006 and was recognized on many occasions for Conspicuous and Meritorious service to the Post over his years of membership in the Society.
Williams was also re-elected to the Board of Directors for the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (BCDCOG). The BCDCOG is a regional agency which serves a three-county area in South Carolina. Williams will continue to serve with local municipal and county leadership to develop local and regional plans within the tri-county region, as well as providing local governments with planning and technical support to improve the quality of life in the region. BCDCOG offers a wide variety of planning, economic development and social services in order to aid in the orderly growth and development of the area. This re-election will also require Williams to continue serving as a Board member for the South Carolina Council of Government, which is a statewide Board that provide support to each of the 10 Council of Governments by providing technical assistance, assisting with securing funding to address critical issues, and advocating at the state and national level for economic and quality of life improvements for their communities. A long-time member of Urban Land Institute, Melvin currently serves on the ULI South Carolina Coastal Executive Committee and Coastal Program Committee. |
