What is UrbanPlan?
UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging exercise in which participants—high school students, university students, or public officials—learn about the fundamental forces that affect real estate development in our communities. Participants experience the challenging issues, private and public sector roles, complex trade-offs, and fundamental economics in play when proposing realistic land use solutions.
ULI South Carolina’s UrbanPlan pilot program will be unveiled at the College of Charleston in fall 2018, to be followed by a high school experience in spring 2019. The success of UrbanPlan relies on a multi-disciplinary team of volunteer ULI members who offer guidance to students throughout the project and serve as facilitators and mock city council members. A training session for ULI SC volunteers will be held in Charleston in summer 2018.
