HOUSING MATTERS: A Tri-County Housing Summit
Friday, May 17, 2013 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Trident Technical College Complex for Industrial and Economic Development
7000 Rivers Avenue, Building 920, North Charleston, SC 29406
The Lowcountry Housing Trust is hosting a Tri-county Housing Summit to discuss how housing matters to families and communities in our region. The full day “Housing Matters” Summit will be held on May 17th at the Trident Technical College Complex for Industrial and Economic Development.
Recent reports by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and Charleston Regional Development Alliance note that housing costs are a growing concern in the region. These agencies are just a few of the regional organizations that will be represented on a diverse panel presenting information on how housing costs impact businesses, communities, economic development, education, health and tourism.
Additionally, the Berkeley Charleston Dorchester Council of Governments staff has been coordinating with local governments to assess more specifically where there are gaps between regional incomes and housing prices. Results of this study will be presented as an introduction to an afternoon of discussions on what solutions might be pursued to address the region’s housing issues.
This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Lunch will be served. Those interested in attending must register for the event through Eventbrite. Please feel free to contact Debra Crawford at 843-973-7285 or [email protected] with additional questions.
