Holy City Parking Crunch Welcomes 100+ to BoomTown!
July 23, 2018
ULI SC Coastal Region welcomed over 100 people to the Holy City Parking Crunch event on July 18.
Adequate parking is a dilemma faced by nearly every US City of a certain scale. The City of Charleston recently raised the cost and extended hours of parking meters. In addition, a parking study is in the works for the entire peninsula. A few years ago, the idea of using a mechanical parking lift to stack cars was considered a novel and outlandish idea. In a very short period of time, mechanical parking lifts and other creative parking solutions have become the new norm for development.
ULI members and guests joined for a roundtable discussion about parking issues and possible solutions at BoomTown!’s offices. Panelists included moderator Steve Ramos (LS3P), East West Partners’ Miller Harper, Mike Shuler of King Street Commercial, Brett Wood (Kimley Horn), Michael Beck of Park Plus, and the City of Charleston’s Jacob Lindsey.
Many thanks to our presenting sponsors, ADC Engineering and Park Plus, and contributing sponsor, Kimley Horn.
