Mayor Joe Riley is Named the First Distinguished ULI Visiting Fellow

Mayor Joe Riley has earned several distinctions during his career. In 2000, Mayor Riley was the first recipient of the JC Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development, which recognizes a person whose career demonstrates a commitment to the highest standards of community building. The award was in recognition for his significant contribution to Charleston’s renaissance and his national leadership on urban design and community revitalization issues.
Most recently, Mayor Riley was named the first distinguished Visiting Fellow for the institute. In this role, Riley will offer expertise on several of the Institute’s areas of focus, including affordable and workforce housing, sustainable development, improving overall community livability, and public sector leadership in land use decision-making.
