Several ULI SC members joined at the College of Charleston for the District’ first UrbanPlan training session. Led by Betsy del Monte, FAIA, LEED BD+C, 4 teams went through the same planning process as the students, albeit in a condensed, one-day session.
Volunteers whole-heartedly embraced their roles of planner, city liaison, neighborhood liaison, marketing director or financial analyst. The day ended with a City Council hearing for the 5.5-block Elmwood District Redevelopment Project.
The UrbanPlan program will kick off later this fall at the College of Charleston, and will be featured in a Human Geography class at Wando High School next spring.
