ULI South Carolina Northside Initiative Symposium
Join ULI South Carolina for a deep dive into Spartanburg’s Northside initiative. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, The Northside Development Group leads the redevelopment of the City of Spartanburg’s Northside community, honoring its past and expanding the opportunities for a mix of affordable and market rate housing, economic, educational, recreational, health, and social opportunities for its residents.
We’ll hear from team members involved throughout the development process.

Thursday, June 9th

8:30AM - 9:00AM - Check-in and registration; coffee & pastries will be served
9:00AM - 10:00AM – After a welcome and introduction by Alex Powell, we’ll hear from Northside Development Group Board Chair, Bill Barnet, about the story behind the Northside, and Ed Memmott, formerly with the City of Spartanburg
10:15AM - 11:30AM – Panel discussion with Tammie Hoy Hawkins (CommunityWorks), Michael Williamson (Northside Development Group), Tony Thomas (Community Involvement Coordinator), and Rob Howell (Avison Young) and moderator Alex Powell (Johnson Development Associates)
11:45AM-12:45PM – Lunch at the Pavilion at Harvest Park (lunch provided)
1:00PM - 3:00PM – Attendees will split in to two groups for walking tour of Northside Station and a bus tour of other development – groups will then switch for the second half of the tour.
