About the ULI South Carolina Capital Markets Conference
The ULI South Carolina Capital Markets Conference is an annual gathering of high-level real estate industry executives. Now in its 15th year, the conference has grown into an annual tradition for many members of the southeastern capital markets community.
The conference will take place at West Beach Conference Center on Kiawah Island, SC. The conference begins with a networking lunch at 11:00AM on November 15, and includes an opening reception at 5:30PM that evening on the Grand Lawn at The Sanctuary. The conference wraps up at noon on Thursday, November 16.
We are excited to announce that Ahmed El Nokali, Head of Capital Markets at First National Bank, will once again join us for the opening session. In his role, Ahmed is responsible for overseeing FNB's syndication teams as well as leading the interest rate management group which provides high-end financial services consultation for institutional clients and prospects to develop interest rate hedging solutions tailored to their unique organizational needs. Ahmed will check in on how things have played out since we were last together, where the economy is headed, and the potential implications for real estate in the Carolinas.
Additionally, ULI South Carolina is thrilled to welcome Jodie W. McLean for the Fireside Chat. Jodie W. McLean is Chief Executive Officer of EDENS, one of the nation's leading private owners, operators and developers of retail real estate. With a tenure of more than 25 years, she has been a key player in EDENS' growth and expansion to its current marketplace leadership, capitalized by blue chip investors and assets valued at $6.5 billion. McLean is responsible for EDENS' strategy to move the portfolio to major urban centers and first-ring suburbs, creating a portfolio of assets that are the center of community life. She was named Chief Investment Officer in 1997, President in 2002, and CEO in 2015. Overall, she has been responsible for the development, redevelopment, acquisition and disposition of more than $20 billion in retail assets. Read more
Day Two of the conference opens with a conversation with Richard Kessler, Chairman and CEO of the Kessler Collection. Richard will speak with another hospitality industry veteran, Larry Spelts, of Indigo Road Hospitality Group, to share his perspective on the hospitality industry and Kessler Collection's investment throughout the Carolinas.
Other sessions include an office outlook moderated by Steve Navarro, President and CEO, The Furman Co., and a discussion on economic development in the Carolinas featuring site selection specialists involved in some of the most impactful deals in the region, moderated by Stephanie Yarbrough, Partner, Womble Bond Dickinson.
