On July 10, ULI South Carolina enjoyed a beautiful evening at Habersham in Beaufort, SC. Habersham’s development team led a tour of the community, followed by an intimate discussion of the trials, tribulations and ultimate successes of developing a new urbanist neighborhood. Attendees learned about the history of the community, as well as about upcoming plans for the town’s MAKE District, which will expand an existing urban town center with uses such as craft manufacturing and knowledge industries that will be within walking distance of 1,400 homes. MAKE is an acronym for Makers, Artisans, Knowledge, and Enterprises.
The discussion was led by moderator Stephen Davis, of Davis & Floyd, with panelists including Bob Turner (Town Founder) and Patrick Kelly (President of Development) of Habersham Land Company, and Eric Moser (Town Architect) of Moser Design Group. Thank you to our hosts Habersham Land Company and to our sponsor, Davis & Floyd.
In January 2018, Coastal Living named Habersham #4 in the magazine’s “Top 20 Places to Live.” It is also home to the 2018 Coastal Living Idea House.
