Happy New Year from ULI South Carolina!
A message for 2024 from ULI South Carolina
ULI South Carolina is excited to announce two upcoming volunteer opportunities!
ULI South Carolina will be in the classroom at Wando High School with UrbanPlan. Facilitators will work with students May 17 and May 22, and the City Council will take place May 30.
UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging exercise in which participants learn about the fundamental forces that affect real estate development in our communities. Participants experience the challenging issues, private and public sector roles, complex trade-offs, and fundamental economics in play when proposing realistic land use solutions.
The success of UrbanPlan relies on a multi-disciplinary team of volunteers – ULI members – who work with the student teams to develop ideas and concepts, culminating in a presentation to a panel of volunteer judges.

ULI SC REDI Charleston – ULI SC is also excited to announce that the REDI program will be coming to the Charleston region in January, 2025, thanks to the support of many, including Sponsors South Carolina Association For Community Economic Development (SCACED) and CommunityWorks, and in-kind sponsor Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.
The ULI South Carolina Real Estate Diversity Initiative (REDI) helps emerging developers expand their skills and knowledge needed to create a successful real estate development.
Participants learn what it takes to put together a successful development through a combination of curriculum and case study work. Throughout the course, teams produce a development plan, pro-forma, and marketing plan for a specific site. Participants engage in both large group and small group mentoring sessions.
Volunteers play a vital role in the REDI program. All sessions are taught by volunteer experts I the subject matter and participants work in teams supported by a team of 3 mentors – One Developer, One Finance Professional and One Design Professional.
